Even though Manchester City are obviously a very active club in the transfer market, it’s not very often they’re named when Portuguese scouting lists are released.
That’s why it’s interesting to see Pep Guardiola’s side had a representative at the Champions League clash between FC Porto and Club Brugge last night.
As reported by newspaper O Jogo, Manchester City sent a scout who watched the surprise win from the Belgian side, who beat Porto 4-0 at the Estádio do Dragão.
Although English clubs normally go to Portugal to pay attention to local talents, it’s safe to say that none of the Dragons’ players could have an impressive exhibition last night, and could hardly get attention from the scouts.
Plus Manchester City haven’t really been linked to any Porto players this year, so it’s hard to guess who the club could have been keeping an eye on at this match.
Now in case the Premier League side were open to checking on talent from Club Brugge players, then it’s fair to say that most of their team did well, with special mentions to midfielder Hans Vanaken and striker Ferran Jutgla.
The match also drew scouts from Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Vitória Guimarães.
