Two days ago, Sport reported Eric García has made it clear he wants to leave Manchester City and return to Barcelona this summer.
The 19-year-old left La Masia and made a switch to the Etihad in 2017.
He’s managed by an agency run by Iván de la Peña, Carles Puyol and Ramon Sostres.
According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Lluis Canut, one of the first decisions De la Peña made as an agent was to take the centre-back to the Etihad.
City offered his client a project in which the defender was assured a path to the first team. The player has fulfilled it, and has featured regularly for the English side since the restart.
García has a year left on his contract. The Citizens have already offered him an extension, and it’s claimed the teenager ‘takes a while to renew with City’.
Barca continue to wait for him, and the Catalan club’s desire it to make the Spain U21 international Gerard Piqué’s successor.
According to Mundo, García’s future is ‘in the hands’ of De la Peña, and it’ll be the representative who will decide what’s best for the defender.
The agent believes Pep Guardiola’s time in the Premier League will come to an end in the not so distant future, as the manager has a year left on his City contract. This could be a factor for the player when deciding whether or not to sign a contract at the club.
García, on the other hand, dreams of wearing the Barcelona shirt, and playing alongside Lionel Messi… something claimed by the Catalan media for every transfer target.
