With all the attention surrounding Joe Hart, Yaya Touré and Samir Nasri these days, another player’s future is being sorted out in the background at Manchester City: that of Jason Denayer.
We say ‘being sorted out’, really, it’s the opposite.
The player, who wants to be a part of the first-team squad, has been told he needs to adapt to Pep Guardiola’s style of play before that happens, something he believes shouldn’t be the case, according to DH.
Having spent seasons on loan at Celtic and Galatasaray, as well as earning a spot in his country’s national team, Denayer feels he’s shown enough to at least get a chance to show what he can do during a game.
Guardiola doesn’t see this, meaning a move away would probably suit Denayer more, yet the club’s reluctance to see him go on another loan is causing a bit of friction.
Having been told where things stand, the young defender now wants a move away from the club, even if it is just on loan.
DH explain the player has a release clause in his contract, one City really don’t want to see activated, and a temporary solution would mean Denayer would not get used to Guardiola’s style of play, scuppering chances of him having an impact in the future (which is what they want).
Furthermore, David Moyes is apparently insisting on his club sorting out a loan to Sunderland for Denayer; one the player would be open to.
Currently a bit of a mess, DH fully expect all of this to go down to the wire, and it appears the Denayer situation might be one of the hot topics of transfer deadline day next Wednesday.
