After months of negotiations and articles sending him to the Premier League due to his undeniable talent, it appears that Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara is about to sign his first professional contract with his home club.
The 17-year-old centre-back had been linked on a regular basis with both Manchester City and Chelsea, with the former of the two even going as far as reportedly FaceTiming his entourage in order to convince them a move to the Etihad was the right idea.
The Blues were said to ‘strongly interested’ towards the end of April, but it appears both Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola are set to miss out on him as France Football, among other outlets, claim Rudi Garcia has convinced him to stay at Marseille.
With centre-back options plentiful but lacking in talent at the Ligue 1 side, keeping someone like Kamara, developed at the club from a young age, is a big win for them, and there is a certain expectation the youngster will get a fair share of game time next season.
Having tracked him since last December, this will represent a bit of a blow for Manchester City, while some doubts remain over whether Chelsea were ever all that keen on him, or if they were just smelling a potential profit had his contract run out in June.
