West Brom are once again linked with William Carvalho by Portuguese newspaper A Bola on Wednesday.
Carvalho links with the Premier League are something of a transfer window tradition, and whilst it’d be no surprise if there is and was genuine interest, it’s clear some of the claims simply don’t stand up.
On Tuesday A Bola claimed West Brom had bid €30m in the summer transfer window and had that offer rejected. On Wednesday A Bola claim West Brom had an offer of €23m rejected.
It’s previously been claimed West Brom have offered €25m, and also €30m plus €5m in bonuses.
Should West Brom still be interested in Carvalho and the player remain where he is as the transfer window is closing, then another offer could be worthwhile.
Sporting need to raise funds from transfers quickly, and Carvalho is the obvious big sale as it stands.
There should be no surprise there’s contradiction over the asking price. On Tuesday A Bola said Sporting wanted €30m as a minimum fee, and on Wednesday A Bola say it’s €35m plus a further €5m in bonuses.
It’s hard to keep up.
