Midfielder Arturo Vidal has slammed Newcastle United, labelling their performance against AC Milan in the Champions League this week as ‘disgusting’.

The midfielder has been speaking on his Twitch channel, relayed by Red Gol, regarding the first round of Champions League group stage fixtures this week.

Newcastle kicked off their campaign with a trip to last season’s semi-finalists AC Milan, the first of several tough games for them in a group which also contains Paris Saint Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

The Magpies got a valuable point against the Italian giants but were lucky to do so as they were completely outplayed throughout the game.

Indeed, had it not been for Milan’s profligacy in front of goal, with nine shots on target and 25 in total failing to produce a goal, it could have been a very different evening for Eddie Howe’s side.

They, in turn, managed just six shots and one on target in a poor showing that suggested they will need to improve significantly if they are to get out of the group as planned.

Vidal was one of those watching the game and he was less than impressed what he saw, hitting out at the Magpies on his Twitch channel.

“I saw the worst game in the history of the Champions League. Milan and Newcastle, how they play that match in the Champions League, crazy,” he said.

“But those fools from Milan with Newcastle made me sick. They are lucky because they only know how to run, otherwise they wouldn’t be there.

“I don’t understand Newcastle, they come fourth in the league, but they don’t do anything, disgusting.

“They have to risk their lives, if it is their first game, show a little more, they left me as angry as hell. This is the Champions League.”
