Anco Jansen is still annoyed about his failed move to Celtic.
He almost moved to the Scottish Premiership side in 2013, with the Bhoys thinking they’d managed to reach an agreement with De Graafschap.
It would have seen Jansen move to Celtic Park initially on loan, with the Glasgow club then having the option to make the transfer a permanent one.
Now at FC Emmen, the 30 year old faces his old club tonight, and there’s still some old feelings around the failed Celtic transfer, and certainly no love lost between Jansen and De Graafschap.
Quoted by De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper pushed on his feelings regarding the Celtic situation: “If I don’t have that much to do with the club anymore? No. There were people in those days who had made my life miserable, but they are no longer there.
“I don’t feel like a cry story, although it seems logical that it didn’t make me happy. But it will not change.”
Moving to Celtic would have seen Jansen earn far more than he had been in the Netherlands. For his former club, it would have ended up a better deal as well.
Celtic were willing to pay €120k for a loan and a further €420k for a permanent transfer, whereas Jansen in the end left for Roda JC for €250k.
