Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was linked with a move to Napoli in the summer transfer window.
The transfer never went through, despite the two clubs coming close to an agreement. The winger rejected the move as the Italian side could not quite meet his wage demands.
After the transfer failed, Garnacho has had an inconsistent time at Manchester United.
Yesterday was another frustrating time for the Argentine, as the Red Devils lost to Fulham on penalties and were knocked out of the FA Cup.
Journalist Antonio Corbo has insisted Napoli should be glad about not signing the youngster.
He told La Repubblica, as relayed by AreaNapoli: “There is no replacement for Kvaratskhelia, but how could there be? It was urgent to sell him to avoid a joke. Luckily there is no Garnacho, De Laurentiis, Chiavelli and Manna can boast [about not signing Garnacho] today.
“Between substitutions and disagreements, the very expensive Argentine, suggested by interested Italian sources, is the cross [annoyance] of Manchester United.”
Garnacho has scored eight goals this season and has also racked up six assists across all competitions.
Those are not bad numbers at all for a 20-year-old, but the question marks around the youngster always pertain to consistency. He can also be frustrating with his decision making.
There is clearly a lot of improvement yet to be done in the Argentine’s skillset, but he is still a highly productive player. And Ruben Amorim can, hopefully, make him better in the final third.
