Palmeiras were chasing Fulham’s Andreas Pereira in the winter window but weren’t able to sign him in the end.

Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira said he gave his approval to sign the 29-year-old and was disappointed over the failure.

Last month, ESPN stated the Fulham player wasn’t in favour of joining the Brazilian club. It’s to be noted claims elsewhere reported that Marco Silva’s side didn’t accept their offer.

Pereira started in Fulham’s FA Cup win over Manchester United on Sunday and prior to the clash, ESPN in Brazil had a chat with him.

The outlet says the Brazil international ‘dreams big with Fulham’ after rejecting Palmeiras. He joined the London club from Manchester United in 2022 and has been a regular under Marco Silva’s orders.

Pereira made 27 appearances this season and claims he’s been benefiting from the work he put since joining Fulham.

“For sure. I think the fruits of the work I did two, three years ago, everything I’ve been doing, I think I’ve been reaping now. It’s been an important season for me, and I want to continue at this pace. And I still know that I have a lot to grow, and I can still improve a lot,” he said.

Fulham are currently ninth in the table with 42 points and are five points behind fourth placed Manchester City. The former Red Devils man insists his side are aiming to qualify for Europe next season.

“We talk to each other here, we say we want to have a better season than last season, and each year improve our situation as a club,” Pereira explained.

“And to improve our game as well, I don’t think we can say, ‘Oh, we’re going to get into the top four’, because here in England its very difficult, things change very quickly. But I think we can certainly dream, and we’re working hard to get there, to play in a European competition.”
