Over the course of the summer, the Italian press, helped by the player’s agent, were keen to remind everyone how much Arsenal want Udinese’s Jakub Jankto, and how much he wants them.
Back in July, Gazzetta dello Sport were the ones to reiterate that Arsène Wenger has been a long time admirer of the 21-year-old midfielder, before his representative, Beppe Riso, told Italian TV his client ‘likes Arsenal’ and is a ‘lover’ of English football.
But, just in case their readers had forgotten all this, the Italian newspaper once again mentioned Arsenal’s, but also AC Milan’s and Juventus’, interest in the young starlet on Sunday ahead of Udinese’s clash against Vincenzo Montella’s side.
Explaining the hardships he went through to get to where he is (one of the Serie A side’s key players) when no one wanted him two years ago, Gazzetta expected Arsenal to be keeping an eye on him during the game.
Unfortunately, what they saw won’t have impressed them, as the very same outlet label him as the worst performer in his side after their 2-1 loss to AC Milan.
Describing him as ‘timid’ and ‘inaccurate’, the midfielder struggled playing down the left hand side for most of the game, and if anyone from Arsenal was indeed watching, they’ll have learnt that positioning Jankto there isn’t the best of ideas.
An extra note to add to the scouting report.
