Giovani Lo Celso is a player that’s had plenty of coverage over this summer transfer window so far, and that’s unlikely to change before deadline day.
Tottenham are very keen on the Argentine midfielder and have been pushing to get a deal done, with Betis resisting until they get the money they want.
That’s yet to happen, with Spurs now thought to be ‘squeezing’ Betis and using the La Liga club’s financial situation to get a better deal.
Basically, Betis need to sell Lo Celso to cover the money they’ve spent on signing Nabil Fekir, as well as get themselves a new striker. Estadio Deportivo cover the situation today and say that Lo Celso staying at Betis is ‘virtually unfeasible’ this summer.
The player isn’t going to force a move, but they need the money as they plan to balance the books by selling the former PSG midfielder.
The talks with Tottenham aren’t mentioned as they are elsewhere, but the newspaper says Betis ‘flatly deny’ reports from England which suggested Lo Celso had a medical with Spurs this week. In fact, he’s returning to training on Wednesday.
Despite them saying English tabloids, it would appear this actually started on social media.
Should Spurs want Lo Celso, though, they may have to move quickly with Napoli and Atletico Madrid now presented as potential options after Real Madrid decided to keep hold of James Rodriguez this summer.
