Giovani Lo Celso’s future has been a regular talking point this summer, and it seems it won’t be resolved until shortly before the deadline.

Tottenham have been keen on the Argentine midfielder all summer, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be particularly interested in his signature.

However, they’re yet to reach an agreement with Real Betis, who are holding out for a massive fee for Lo Celso and its one that Spurs are yet to match.

Recent reports have indicated that Betis need a sale because they need the money to pay for a new striker and finance their capture of Nabil Fekir.

El Desmarque cover Lo Celso’s future today and say that while there is no agreement in place with Tottenham as yet, Betis have made it clear that Lo Celso needs to be the big sale of the summer.

In fact, they believe that Tottenham are using that need to sell, and the fact the Premier League window closes on August 8th, to their advantage.

They are trying to ‘squeeze Betis’ with a proposal of €50m, which they think is the real valuation of the player. Mundo Deportivo say they are the team ‘betting with more force’ for his signature but are yet to get anywhere near Betis’ valuation, backing up El Desmarque’s claim.

Lo Celso, for his part, already has an agreement in place after speaking with Mauricio Pochettino and Betis have no intention of misleading the player, but until they can reach an agreement with Spurs, this long-running negotiation will continue.
