Liverpool have been told they will need more than €30m if they wish to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
Gakpo has been establishing himself as something of a star for the Dutch side this season, with ten goals and 11 assists in games in all competitions, a record that is not to be sniffed at.
His performances have earned him plenty of attention, with a report this week stating that Liverpool and Manchester City had both held ‘exploratory talks’ over a deal for the summer.
Arsenal were added to the list of suitors today, with reports stating that a figure of around €30m could be enough for the interest clubs to get their man.
However, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink refutes those reports in his coverage of the issue today.
He states that ‘colleagues from abroad’ have mentioned the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich as suitors, and a figure of €29.9m is ‘linked to this’.
According to his information, though, this is ‘not nearly enough’ for PSV to consider a deal. In fact, it would not even be enough to convince the Dutch side to ‘have a cup of coffee’.
In other words, they’re definitely not interested in a deal for a price anywhere near that, and if Liverpool, or any of the suitors for that matter, do want Gakpo, then they’ll have to spend much more than what has been reported.
