Liverpool are ‘still in talks’ with Red Bull Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi despite talks he is closing in on a move to Borussia Dortmund.

That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say a window may be opening as discussions with Dortmund are not progressing.

Adeyemi has established himself as one of the hottest properties in Europe after returning to Salzburg from a loan spell with Liefering in 2019.

Since then, he’s scored 30 goals and registered 20 assists in 88 games for the club, and several clubs in Europe are thought to be keen on him.

Liverpool are one of them, with numerous reports over the last few months making it clear they are interested in the player, and Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of him.

For a while, though, it has appeared the forward would be following Erling Haaland to Dortmund, who are also one of his big admirers.

However, Sky say that nothing is finalised as yet, despite Salzburg and Dortmund having ‘reached an agreement in principle’ for the player.

They’re set to pay around €35m for the forward and want to provide him with a five-year contract, but it is there where the problems have arisen.

Adeyemi is currently in final negotiations about his potential deal, but there is a ‘complex contract structure’ on the table, and the two parties are ‘clearly at odds’ when it comes to clauses and bonus payments.

In fact, both sides have ‘hardened’ in their positions, and the deal is now in danger of collapsing, opening the door for other interested parties.

Liverpool are one of them, and Adeyemi is ‘still in talks’ with RB Leipzig, the Reds and Paris Saint Germain about potential moves there as well.

Dortmund are still in the lead, and they, Adeyemi and Salzburg, want to do a deal, but the complications mean the other interested clubs still have a chance of swooping in.
