Three days ago, we covered claims from AS that Liverpool could be provided an opportunity to sign Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé.
Sport on Monday has a report on the forward titled ‘Klopp wants Dembélé’ and it’s further explained the France international is a transfer ‘objective’ for the Reds.
The France international is ‘one of the most attractive players’ who could leave the Camp Nou, even though the La Liga winners have publicly stated the 22-year-old is ‘non-transferable’.
Having arrived in Spain from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, the player has struggled with injuries and is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery earlier this year.
Football across Europe is suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis and this could have an impact on the club’s finances in the summer and for next season.
Sport suggest that claims criculating in England about Barca’s finances could be giving Liverpool hope.
Sport then states: ‘The Blaugrana club has been forced to apply a 70 percent salary reduction to all its professional athletes and an ERTE to the rest of the club’s workers’.
It’s also claimed the Spanish champions must balance their books by selling a few first team players.
The impression coming from England is that Liverpool are aware of the situation and the Merseyside club would be ‘preparing’ a proposal of €90m for Dembélé, ‘at the express request’ of Klopp.
AS reported last week that Liverpool could be an option for Dembélé in the summer and Sport’s report now indicates that they are backing up those claims.
