As Liverpool show up as one of the main contenders to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, their fans should be interested in the latest news from Italy regarding the striker’s situation.

Calcio Mercato today explain the ‘great frost’ between the player and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, as their complicated relationship makes it hard for the star to renew his contract.

It’s said there’s still a ‘large gap’ between what Osimhen asks and what Napoli want to pay. The striker wants his salary hiked from €4.5m to €9m per year, and that’s an issue which isn’t expected to be sorted so soon.

Another problem that should excite Liverpool is that the striker is also having trouble agreeing to a new release clause. His agent reportedly wants an ‘easy and cheap’ fee, while De Laurentiis wants it set at over €200m.

Calcio Mercato claim that in case this ‘great frost remains intact’, then Osimhen will find open doors in the Premier League. That’s where the Reds are brought in.

It’s said Liverpool ‘moved decisively’ with ‘several direct contacts’, and will be waiting in case this renewal isn’t signed.
