Two weeks ago, SportBild presented Liverpool as the ‘perfect’ destination for Timo Werner, with the RB Leipzig player interesting Bayern Munich.
One week ago, the same German magazine picked up weak claims of Reds interest in James Rodriguez, treated it as unquestioned truth, and gave Liverpool a 20% chance of signing the player.
Bayern Munich were given 50% and a return to Real Madrid 30%, it all seemed an effort to hype things up ahead of the European fixtures between the German and English giants.
We ended our article with: ‘Claims like this are likely to grow in the run up to the Champions League match.’
Sure enough, this week’s edition of SportBild has another potential Liverpool and Bayern transfer tussle, saying there’s ‘poker’ going on over Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Chelsea youngster has been linked to Bayern throughout the January window, but it’s claimed Liverpool are also keen, have held a meeting with the player’s family, and Jurgen Klopp is trying to ‘woo’ the player.
There’s not a whole lot else added, just that Bayern will do all they can to strengthen their squad and even €40m for unproven Hudson-Odoi doesn’t seem so unreasonable these days.
Should the German club sign the Chelsea player, then SportBild can present it as Bayern beating their Champions League rivals off the pitch, whether they did or didn’t.
What will it be next week?
