FC Porto’s Champions League clash against Liverpool has fed pages and pages of the Portguese press this week, even though the Dragons are unlikely to get the qualification to the quarter-finals.
In the past couple of days, we’ve covered interviews from Roberto Firmino, who spoke about the match with newspaper O Jogo, and Mohamed Salah, who talked to Diário de Notícias about the quality of the African players that Porto have.
Now O Jogo managed to have another interesting story today, which is about the Portuguese youngsters who belong to Liverpool.
Toni Gomes, Paulinho and Rafael Camacho have all spoken to the outlet, and talked about moving early to a different country, especially as the first two had to live with English families when they first got to the club.
“My plan is to continue in England. I have already had the opportunity to play in Anfield and to listen the club’s anthem and I will always fight for this dream”, said Paulinho.
Gomes also doesn’t plan to return to Portugal: “I also want to continue. If it is not at Liverpool, in another club.”
Rafael Camacho, on the other hand, is protected with a contract until 2020. He claims that the experience to be training with the first team has been great, and that motivates him to stay at the club for longer.
“He’s a manager who supports, encourages and gives confidence to the youngsters. In the first team, things are different, they are elite players. Every day you learn a lot and I feel that when I play under-23 things are more easy.”
“I want to win at Liverpool. Gerrard, with whom I also worked, did the same course as I and won. Therefore I ask that God help me, because I will fight to have this luck.”
