Liverpool are the only club to have ‘come really close’ to signing midfielder Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk, as he continues to gain admirers.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover the player today and comments he’s made to Sport Italia about a potential move in the coming months.

They explain that Sudakov has a growing list of admirers after impressing in Russia, with Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool all taking an interest in him.

Of those group, though, it is only Liverpool who have ‘come really close’ to ever signing him or making a move for him.

The belief is that an auction could be on the cards in the summer transfer window, although it will likely be from a high starting point as he recently signed a new deal which includes a €150m release clause.

Napoli and Juventus are also keeping an eye on the situation, waiting for a potential opening and a signal from the 21-year-old that he’s either ready to move on or make the switch to Italy.

He’s yet to do that, although he has admitted he would love to play in a big five league before heading to the Premier League.

“Certain,” he said when asked about a potential offer from a big Italian side.

“As I said, the Premier League is an incredible league, but first of all I want to play in one of the top 5 leagues and Italy is no exception in that sense.”
