Transfer planning never stops at top clubs, or at least it shouldn’t.
Liverpool have shown they’re happy to take a longer term plan to identifying and then signing targets, and the first step of that is usually scouting.
Jurgen Klopp’s club aren’t one of the Premier League teams who scout most in Portugal, but on Saturday evening a Liverpool official was spotted at the match between Benfica and Sporting, reports O Jogo.
Representatives from Manchester United, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Sevilla and Valencia were also there.
In one of the biggest games of any Portuguese season, the two Lisbon sides drew 1-1 in a game which took a long time to really get going.
The big story from the match is 18 year old Joao Felix. With Benfica losing 1-0, the 18 year old came on to make his derby debut and equalised with a header.
There’s no indication that Felix was the reason for Liverpool travelling, and there’s plenty of other talent on display in Lisbon.
Central defender Ruben Dias was linked with Liverpool earlier this summer, but didn’t have his best game and gave a penalty away for Benfica.
It’ll be no surprise if Joao Felix rumours grow over the next few months.
