If you think you’re the biggest Thierry Henry fan that ever was, think again, you’re probably not.
It would appear that if anyone holds that title, it’s Bryan Dabo, Saint-Etienne midfielder, who recently left Montpellier for Christophe Galtier’s side.
Rejecting a move to his hometown Marseille in the summer, the 24-year-old opened up to France Football on Tuesday about various days in his life, including the one when he met his idol.
He came close, though. Once.
He explained: “I nearly saw him when he came to Marseille to meet all the captains of the young sides, but I didn’t because I wasn’t captain of my team. If I some day speak to him, I’ll explain that I took the number 14 shirt at Montpellier because of him.
“When I was young, I wanted the same boots as him. I nearly called my son Thierry (bursts out laughing) before realising Thierry has become a rather archaic name. I’m such a big fan of his that I feel like I know him personally. I could speak with him for hours.”
It was no secret the former Montpellier utility man (he played RB, DM, CM, LB and RW last season) was watched by a few Premier League clubs, and if he continues to impress has he has done, it won’t be long until he works in the same country as Henry.
From thereon in, anything could happen.
