It’s the evening before transfer deadline day and all was calm… and then L’Equipe claimed Manchester United and Everton have both entered into talks to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.
Both Premier League clubs have been linked with several defender during the summer transfer window, both have been linked with Barcelona’s Yerry Mina repeatedly. It’s also been claimed that if the Toffees don’t get Mina they could go for Marcos Rojo instead.
This is all quite tangled up.
Anyway, L’Equipe say Everton want a loan and Manchester United would prefer a straight transfer. For now, Chelsea don’t want to see Zouma go to a competitor.
The central defender spent last season on loan at Stoke City and was unable to stop the club sliding into the Championship. He’s been linked with several moves this summer, but this is obviously the biggest story so far.
Zouma is 23 years of age and has a Chelsea contract lasting until 2023.
