Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo now backs up today’s reports from Sport which claimed Marlon could be moving from Barcelona to Newcastle United this summer.

Sport’s story was quite optimistic, saying the move was ‘close’, depending on a work permit. They said the Magpies would pay €2m for a loan deal.

Now Mundo Deportivo takes things more easy. They claim that Newcastle are an option for the player, as Rafa Benitez is keen on bringing him to the club.

Marlon himself likes the chance of moving to the Premier League, he’s ‘excited’, and that’s why the possibility is highlighted by the story. The player could have moved to West Ham earlier this year, but as the outlet writes, ‘he’s missed that train’.

In case the deal with Newcastle doesn’t work out, then Barcelona would have a €12m offer from Sassuolo, besides a bid from Fenerbahce, and the interest from other Spanish sides.

Barça’s intention would be letting Marlon go on a permanent transfer, but Newcastle want a loan. That makes it quite interesting that the Magpies are leading the race for now.

Maybe it’s the player’s wish to move to the Premier League that is speaking louder.
