Leicester City have joined the race for Ajax defender Nicolás Tagliafico, according to Le10 Sport.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are in the market for a new left-back and have identified the 27-year-old as ‘plan B’, if they fail to sign FC Porto’s Alex Telles.
The Foxes have now arrived at the scene for the Argentina international.
It’s claimed that Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘appreciates’ the fullback’s profile and could ‘compete with PSG’ for his signing.
The South American has a contract with the Eredivisie side until 2022 and the report states a fee of €25m is needed to take him away from the Johan Cruyff Arena. The figure quoted is ‘not really a concern’ for the English club.
Leicester could challenge PSG for Tagliafico’s signing, but Thomas Tuchel’s side priority is to still land Telles.
Ben Chilwell is the first choice left-back at the King Power and he’s been linked with other clubs, including Chelsea.
It’s not clear if Leicester view Tagliafico as the England international’s successor (if the latter leaves the club this summer) or whether he’d compete with Chilwell for a place in the starting lineup.
Tagliafico scored five goals and managed seven assists in all competitions in the 2019/20 season.
