The French media today reveals Leicester City’s interest in Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
It’s Foot Mercato who feature a piece about the 24-year-old’s situation. The player was supposed to move to Real Betis, who reportedly had an agreement with the Ligue 1 side for the transfer. However, with a delay for the move to be completed, there’s now a new chance for other interested clubs to try and hijack the deal.
So according to the story, Leicester City ‘could benefit from it’. It’s claimed that with Newcastle United’s interest in James Maddison, the Foxes now target Aouar as a potential replacement.
Foot Mercato writes that Brendan Rodger’s side now see the Frenchman as a ‘priority’ for the squad in case Maddison actually leaves this summer.
The outlet just doesn’t seem to have any information on how much Leicester City would like to spend on Aouar. The player is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €25m, but should move for less, as those reports regarding the agreement with Betis had claimed that the Spanish side were offering below €15m.
