Leicester City are showing a willingness to send Dennis Praet back to Torino next season after his loan spell this year.

That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say that Torino have ‘asked’ Leicester to sanction a deal, and a second loan is a ‘concrete scenario’.

They explain that Praet was one of the most important moves made by the club in the summer, with him signing on loan with a right of redemption of €12m, which has to be exercised this Spring.

That seemed likely to happen, but the unforeseen event was Praet picking up an injury on the 11th of February, with the midfielder fracturing the fifth metatarsal on his right foot.

That’s left him on the sidelines for several months, and the Leicester man is struggling with the post-surgery rehabilitation at this moment in time.

Torino have therefore decided to wait until the end of the season to make a decision about his future, and technical director Davide Vagnati has ‘requested’ that Leicester renew his loan deal.

That includes deferring the outright purchase until 2023 and is a move made with ‘confidence’ as Leicester have been ‘sending signals of openness’ in recent hours that they are open to the deal.

That ‘would make everyone happy’, with the Foxes happy to get their money, Torino happy for another loan and Praet getting to stay at a club where he is comfortable and doing well.

The plan at the minute is to get Praet back to full fitness and playing a role again before the end of the season, but there is growing confidence that will not be the end of his time at the club.
