Leicester City right-back Ricardo Pereira has been suggested as a possible option for Real Madrid this summer.
The Spanish club are on the hunt for a backup for Dani Carvajal, having let Álvaro Odriozola join Bayern Munich on loan in the January transfer window.
The decision to sanction that move suggests Zinedine Zidane has no faith in the player and will let him go permanently.
That would leave Carvajal as the only right-back at the club, meaning they will need to find cover somewhere for the Spaniard.
According to Fichajes, the hope is that man can be Achraf Hakimi, who has flourished on loan at Borussia Dortmund this season.
However, he wants to be at a club where he can play regularly and may also find himself back at the Germans permanently as part of a deal for Real Madrid to sign Erling Haaland.
He’s also flourished this season, establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. Some, particularly Leicester fans, would extend that to Europe.
Fichajes argue he, alongside Lukas Klostermann and Joao Cancelo, would help Madrid ‘take a leap in quality’ in that position should they arrive at the Bernabeu.
Now there is no indication Real will be making a move, or that he’s even a legitimate target, it’s just a suggestion that Pereira should be one.
Even if he was, Leicester would not be willing sellers. Pereira is a first-team star at the Kingpower Stadium, and they would demand a high price for their man, as they proved with Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United last summer.
