Over the past couple of weeks, the Catalan media have been trying to push Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho towards the Premier League. He is currently on loan with Bayern Munich, although it’s not thought that move will last.
According to Sport, Leicester City have become the latest candidate to join the race for the Brazil international.
The newspaper states it ‘seems increasingly clear’ the ex-Liverpool man will return to England and his agents are handling interest from various Premier League clubs, including that of the Foxes.
It’s claimed Leicester are ‘bidding hard’ to acquire the 27-year-old’s services on a loan deal. He previously played under Brendan Rodgers, when the pair were at Anfield, and the duo share a good personal relationship.
Rodgers is aware that Coutinho could be a ‘good solution’ for Leicester, if James Maddison ends up leaving the club.
Leicester’s idea would be to take Coutinho on loan with an option to make it permanent. The initial investment (loan fee plus wages) would be around €30m.
Sport haven’t mentioned whether Rodgers’ side would still be looking at Coutinho if Maddison decides to continue at the King Power Stadium.
