Turkish newspaper Sabah report that Trabzonspor have identified Aston Villa’s midfielder Marvelous Nakamba as a replacement for John Obi Mikel for next season.

Mikel left the club last month after terminating his contract, and it’s reported that the Turkish club are already looking for potential alternatives to fill the void left for the next campaign.

Sabah claim that Aston Villa’s 26 year old midfielder is on their radar as they could make a move for the former Club Brugge player at the end of the season.

Trabzonspor are interested in signing Mouscron’s Frank Boya as a possible replacement for Mikel, and now Sabah claim Nakamba is also a target for the Turkish Super Lig leaders.

Villa paid €12m to sign the Zimbabwean midfielder last summer and Nakamba was a regular in Dean Smith’s side before the Premier League stopped due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

He’s made 26 appearances for his club in all competitions this season and is under contract at Aston Villa Park until June 2024.
