We all know Massimo Cellino has been a rather eccentric owner at Leeds United, but the big question we know fans at Elland Road really want answered is ‘How does he compare to others?’
Well, Sport/Foot in Belgium have decided to rank the top 10 ‘eccentric’ English club owners, and you’ll be glad to know the Italian Leeds owner has made the podium.
Ahead of the likes of Ken Bates, Freddy Shepherd, Flavio Briatore and Vincent Tan, Massimo Cellino is rated third on the list, just behind Darlington FC’s George Reynolds and Doncaster Rovers’ Ken Richardson.
Listing his love for sacking managers as one of the reasons, which currently stands at eight at Leeds and stood at 36 over 22 years at Cagliari.
Becoming “The Manager Eater”, Cellino appears to have learned patience with Garry Monk, as the former Swansea player and manager is currently leading Leeds to one of their best finishes in recent years.
So close to the playoffs, they can practically taste them, LUFC only have three games left to try and get into the top six, as they currently lie seventh behind Fulham on goal difference.
However, it appears Cellino might not be the club’s owner for much longer, having sold 50% of his shares to Andrea Radrizzani, with the other 50% also expected to be up for grabs in the near future.
It was a fun ride while it lasted, though, wasn’t it? Actually, no, it probably wasn’t.
