Leeds United have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Juventus for midfielder Weston McKennie and are now working on a contract with the player.

That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who provides details on the move for the American, which has seemingly taken a major step forward.

Earlier today we covered a report from Italy that stated Leeds were holding talks again today over a move for McKennie and there was confidence a deal could be struck with Juventus.

That included comments from Juve boss Max Allegri in his press conference today in which the Italian admitted McKennie would not be involved in their game tomorrow as he was a part of negotiations with Leeds and a deal had been struck.

Di Marzio follows that up and states it is a ‘verbal agreement’ which has been reached between the Whites and Juventus.

That deal will see Leeds pay a €1.5m loan fee for the midfielder and the loan deal will include an option to buy that can become mandatory for €35m if certain conditions are met.

What those conditions are isn’t mentioned but we’ve seen similar deals struck for players this month.

Either way a deal for McKennie has now been agreed and Leeds are now working on the contract details with the player to finalise it.
