It’s been confirmed Leeds United will send a youth team to compete in the Chisola Cup next month. The competition is in its second year, and will be contested in the Piedmont region of Italy.

11giovani have revealed Leeds United are one of two international clubs invited to this year’s tournament, with the other being Portuguese giants Benfica.

The remaining participants are made up of Italian clubs, including Juventus, Torino, Sampdoria, Genoa, and Pro Vercelli. In total 16 teams will be entered, and the competition will start at the end of April.

Juventus are the holders of the Chisola Cup after winning the competition in 2016, and this year they will be entering four academy teams. The Serie A champions defeated Genoa in the final last year, whilst the 3rd place play-off was contested by Liverpool and Torino.

The competition will give Leeds United’s youngsters a chance to go up against some of the best youth sides in Europe, and in particular Juventus and Benfica. Both clubs are steeped in history but, like 11giovani highlight, so are Leeds United.
