According to a claim in the Swiss media, Reto Ziegler could be set for a return to FC Sion after being released by the club just a few weeks ago. The 31 year old defender has been linked with move to Leeds United in the past week.
Le Matin has reported Ziegler is holding talks with Sion about a return, despite the interest from Leeds United. The former Tottenham Hotspur defender wasn’t offered a contract by Sion at the end of the season due to injury problems he encountered last season.
However, it seems Ziegler has overcome these issues, and Sion could be open to letting him return to the club.
Last week we covered reports from Switzerland that Leeds United are interested in signing the Swiss international after he became a free agent this summer.
Thomas Christiansen could still look to strengthen his defensive options before the window closes, and Ziegler’s versatility could be an asset for Leeds.
Leeds United need to speed up any approach for Ziegler, given Sion have come back into the picture.
