According to a claim in the Italian media, Leeds United have an agreement in principle to sign Carpi forward Jerry Mbakogu.
The 25 year old was linked with a move to the Championship at the weekend, following reports club officials had travelled to Italy to watch the player.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has today reported on Leeds United pursuit of Mbakogu, and claims the English side already have an agreement with the player.
It’s also been revealed Leeds United have a ‘rough agreement’ with Carpi, who are prepared to sell the forward to them for around €4m.
Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Leeds United attended the game between Carpi and Spezia on Saturday to get the lowdown on Mbakogu. The player was named the Man of the Match in his side’s 2-1 victory, and scored one of Carpi’s goals.
According to Transfermarkrt, Mbakogu holds an Italian passport, after he left Nigeria for the country as a youngster, but the Di Marzio report suggests there could still be issues in that regard.
