This morning, we’ve seen a report from Mundo Deportivo claiming that Barcelona have been in touch for the signing of Basel striker Arthur Cabral.
Looking for a replacement for Sergio Aguero, the Catalan side would be working to get the 23-year-old on a loan in January with a mandatory purchase clause in the summer.
Now as ESPN Brasil shares some more details about this approach, they add a few other clubs who’ve been interested in the striker, and Leeds United are among them.
They claim that the Whites are one of those who ‘recently’ put the player in their radar, as well as AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.
It turns out that even though ESPN’s story labels Leeds’ interest as recent, the Whites have actually been linked to the player for a little longer, as reports from a bid were out last year.
In the summer of 2020, it was said in Brazil that the Elland Road side offered €15m plus €2m in bonuses for Arthur Cabral’s transfer, and while Basel demanded €20m, the talks collapsed.
So in case Leeds are indeed back for the player, they know it won’t be easy to negotiate for him, especially that they now have heavy competition for his signing.
