Leeds United have been ‘put off’ by the €40m price tag put on Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere this summer.
That’s according to Sport Voetbal Magazine, who say the player is also unlikely to accept a move to Elland Road anyway.
Leeds are busy strengthening their squad this summer after narrowly avoiding relegation last season and have already sealed deals for the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca.
They are not likely to stop there, particularly if Raphinha departs as expected, and the latest name to be linked is De Ketelaere.
Reports this week have Leeds firmly in the picture for the highly-rated 21-year-old, with two separate sources today confirming their interest.
However, it seems any effort may fall on deaf ears, with Sport Voetbal Magazine reporting that the player is ‘unlikely to opt’ for the Whites as they fought against relegation last season. In other words, he’s setting his sights a little higher than relegation battlers.
Leeds’ interest had been waning anyway, with them also claiming those in charge at Elland Road had been ‘put off’ by the €40m price tag on De Ketelaere’s head.
That might put an end to any rumours, for the time being, then, although if Leeds sell Raphinha for the figure they want, that reluctance might dimmish significantly.
