Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday, and their first league clash of the season showed the Red Devils need to invest in a new centre-back.
Harry Maguire partnered Victor Lindelöf, and the Swede was singled out for the goals conceded against the Eagles.
The Red Devils have been linked with a handful of centre-backs in this window, and one of them is AS Monaco’s Benoît Badiashile.
Earlier reports from France explained a United bid for the defender was rejected by the Ligue 1 side. Bayer Leverkusen are also interested, and on September 12th, L’Equipe reported both clubs are ‘willing to put down €25m’ to sign the teenager.
Tuesday’s edition of the same newspaper claims a ‘last minute surprise’ from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in making an effort to sign the teenager ‘cannot be ruled out’.
That’s because United have ‘not lost sight’ of the idea of ‘making a new proposal’ for Badiashile before the window closes on October 5th.
Even if United submit a new offer, L’Equipe states it’s unlikely they will succeed as Badiashile wants to stay at Monaco to continue his development.
