Earlier this week, we covered claims from the Turkish press that Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva summer move to Galatasaray was being halted by a disagreement over wages.
Lucas will be out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season, and it seems now he’s come to an agreement with the Turkish giants.
AMKSpor claim the Liverpool veteran is set to accept Galatasaray’s improved salary offer. Galatasaray’s first offer to Lucas was €2.8m, but CimBom are now ready to pay him €4m per year because they believe they’ll be in a much better situation financially.
High earners Nigel de Jong, Lukas Podolski and Aurelien Chedjeou will leave the club this summer, meaning a wage will be freed up for Lucas.
The Turkish club also look to have complied with FFP, and subsequently the club’s president Dursun Özbek has given the green light to sign the Liverpool player.
Lucas is currently the longest player at Liverpool after spending 10 years with the Premier League side.
The midfielder was very close to joining Galatasaray last summer, but after talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp the player decided to stay at Anfield.
Lucas has made 338 appearances for Liverpool and scored 7 goals.
