Foggia forward Fabio Mazzeo has backed Salernitana star Massimo Coda to make the step up and join a Serie A club. The 28-year-old has been linked with top flight Italian sides in recent months, but has also received interest from Leeds United.
Speaking to the Foggia Reporter, Mazzeo was asked about Coda and whether he has the qualities to succeed in Serie A .
The Foggia star believes his compatriot certainly has the ability to play in the top flight after a brief spell in Serie A with Parma. However, Mazzeo think he needs to get the right move and a find a club which suits him.
“For me Coda could also play in Serie A, but he must find a club that will give him confidence,” said Mazzeo on the Leeds United target.
During the last window we covered reports from the Italian and the British press that Leeds United had made an offer for Coda. Beppe Galli spoke about requests coming in for his client, but didn’t go as far as revealing which clubs were interested.
Last summer it was claimed Leeds United made a last ditch attempt to sign Coda. Officials from the club travelled to Italy to hold transfer talks, but a deal never materialised.
Leeds United will face competition to sign Coda, with Genoa the latest Serie A club to be linked with the player. Coda has been valued at €3m by his club.
