It ‘would not be surprising’ to see Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski join Liverpool in the near future, with Jurgen Klopp a big fan of the player.

That’s according to Napoli Piu who, alongside Corriere dello Sport, cover the Polish international today and a possible move next summer.

First the newspaper, who explain that there is a growing chance Zielinski could be leaving Napoli on a free transfer next summer when his contract with the Italian champions comes to an end.

He turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer but they’re yet to get him to sign a new deal at the club, meaning from January he will be able to start pre-contract negotiations with any club he likes.

Napoli are yet to make his renewal enough of a priority, focusing their efforts on others in the squad, and that means clubs will be looking at him and considering the possibility of a move.

It would not be a surprise if Liverpool were one of them, with them having a longstanding interest in Zielinski thanks to Klopp.

He was linked with a move for him in the early days of his Liverpool reign and has consistently been an admirer, even praising the midfielder individually before the two sides met in the Champions League last season.

Zielinski responded to that by scoring a double in the game and Napoli Piu say it would not be a shock in the slightest to see the Reds, or even Manchester City or Real Madrid, make a move for him. They believe he’s more than good enough to play for any of them.

For now, nothing is moving but that can always change quickly and it’s a situation to keep an eye on, even if the Reds did spend the summer completely rebuilding their midfield.
