The British media are partly to blame for Erik ten Hag’s struggles at Manchester United this season, with their behaviour heaping pressure on the Dutch coach.
That’s according to analysts Wim Kieft and Johan Boskamp, who have been left unimpressed by what they’ve seen from journalists in England.
Ten Hag has found himself under increasing pressure at Manchester United this season as he’s been unable to build on the successes they enjoyed last year.
Rather than progression it’s been regression at Old Trafford, with a series of unimpressive performances and defeats in the Premier League and Champions League.
Thanks to his struggles Ten Hag has frequently found himself linked with the sack, and there’s consistent leaks from the dressing room about the situation and apparent disagreements between the Manchester United players and their manager.
That led the club to banning various journalists and media from a recent press conference, with Manchester United unimpressed by a failure to give them a chance to comment on reports before they were published.
All of this hasn’t gone unnoticed back in the Netherlands, where Kieft and Boskamp are particularly unimpressed by what they’ve seen.
“They are just lying there in bushes, that is not nice there,” said the latter.
“It’s five times worse there than here,” added Kieft.
“José Mourinho and Louis van Gaal also died there. Everyone dies there… There must also be something wrong within that club.”
