Arsenal replaced Liverpool in providing competition to Manchester City in the title race last season.
Liverpool and the Citizens fought for the title between 2018 and 2022, with the Reds winning the Premier League for the first time during the 2019/20 season. Manchester City came top on the other three occasions.
Arsenal fought until the end of last season, before finishing second, two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side. However, the Gunners and Liverpool don’t frighten Manchester City.
That’s at least what Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani has insinuated. He told Cronache di Spogliatoio about his chat with Manchester City’s Joško Gvardiol. His comments are relayed by FcInter1908.it.
Trevisani says he met the 22-year-old defender after Manchester City’s goalless draw against Inter Milan in the Champions League last week. The Croatia international was left impressed with the Serie A side and made it known to the journalist.
“I met Joško Gvardiol in the restaurant and he told me: ‘No team in the Premier League has ever faced us the way Inter did’. Inter came out of Manchester with a sense of boldness that killed them off,” he said.
“If you add up psyche and physique, Inter were not in the best condition. Even City struggled to put in two level performances, by the 97th minute they were down.”
Last weekend, Inter suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of AC Milan in the derby. Manchester City, On the other hand, were able to avoid defeat against 10-men Arsenal thanks to John Stones’ late equaliser at the Etihad.
