Last month, there were already Italian reports claiming AS Roma are interested in Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, as there could be a swap between him and Nicolo Zaniolo.

And since the Giallorossi surprisingly announced the arrival of José Mourinho a couple of days ago, the local media has been busy writing about the players who could follow the Special One to the Serie A side.

Now it’s time to see that rumour once again, this time in a story from Calcio Mercato, who of course name the Portuguese coach as another factor for Roma to sign the player.

The outlet writes that in Mourinho’s wish list there’s Van de Beek, who ‘couldn’t establish himself in England’. It’s said Roma had already tried to make an approach ‘in the past few months’, but the Red Devils asked for Zaniolo, and that was too much.

Now only the move for the Dutchman is reported this time, and it’s claimed that the Italian side would need to spend about €30m.

Calcio Mercato also mentions that Mourinho got to know Van de Beek in England. But the only way that could happen was in a match between Manchester United and Tottenham, because Mourinho left Old Trafford in December 2019 and the Dutchman arrived in the summer of 2020.
