On Wednesday morning Sky Sports were reporting Ronaldo Vieira could travel to Italy to complete a move to Sampdoria.
In fact, he’s already done that.
There were photographs published of the Leeds United player landing at Genoa’s airport on Monday evening. It’s then thought he flew to join Sampdoria at the club’s preseason training base in England, and he was spotted there too.
Whilst the move hasn’t been made official, it surely can only be a matter of time unless something goes very wrong indeed.
Italy’s Libero newspaper report that Jorge Mendes has had a big part to play in the transfer. It’s said to be the Portuguese agent who convinced Sampdoria to come up with €7m to sign the youngster.
It’s also suggested that Sampdoria may take a look at Romario Vieira, the 20 year old’s twin brother.
Romario is currently without a contract at a club, having been at Leeds United himself.
Gazzetta dello Sport report in their Wednesday edition that Ronaldo Vieira has already passed his Sampdoria medical and is now with his new teammates, but the deal is ‘missing some bureaucratic practice and will be made official in the next few hours’.
