On Friday we commented the Catalan media had picked up Paco Alcacer to Southampton rumours, and hadn’t rubbished them, taking the general possibility seriously.
Of course there were a few hurdles in the way of a potential deal, some of which may be insurmountable, but Alcacer moving to Southampton in January wasn’t seen as a ridiculous proposition.
Well, it didn’t take long for all that to change. Mundo Deportivo say whilst it’s possible Alcacer may consider a Barcelona exit in January, it’s not going to be to Southampton.
The forward ‘would only leave Barca in winter for a solid project and the offer that appeared yesterday from Southampton would not be the one to convince him’.
Well, that’s told Southampton, or at least those who started the Alcacer rumour in the first place.
Despite Paco having worked with Mauricio Pellegrino previously, Southampton certainly isn’t an ‘irresistible temptation’ for the player, say Mundo Deportivo.
Pellegrino worked with Alcacer in the youth teams at Valencia, through to the first team.
