Jean-Philippe Mateta will miss Crystal Palace’s next game after requiring stitches behind his ear after the clash with Millwall’s Liam Roberts.
That’s according L’Equipe, who report that Mateta was taken to hospital after being kicked in the head by the Millwall goalkeeper.
The newspaper reports that’s his condition was ‘deemed reassuring’ after the incident but he will have stitches behind his ear and will be absent from their next game against Ipswich Town.
L’Equipe report that, according to their information, the Crystal Palace striker was taken to hospital on a stretcher and with oxygen after the challenge from Roberts early in the clash with Millwall.
Once there his condition was considered ‘rather reassuring’, but he was ‘bleeding a lot’ from one ear, which will require stitches.
Mateta, Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner have all provided positive updates on the striker’s condition since the incident, with the latter admitting he is likely to miss the clash with Ipswich.
L’Equipe now confirm that will be the case, presumably to give the stitches he’s received to fix the injury time to heal properly.
That will come as good news for Crystal Palace either way, who would have been fearing a lengthy injury absence for their star striker after the incident.
