Towards the end of January, there was a bit of excitement surrounding Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, with a number of clubs interested in his services.
West Ham were reportedly in ‘advanced negotiations’ with him, and the likes of Marseille and Lyon were also pushed as being in the mix.
Well, another Ligue 1 side were also keen, as Lille looked to bolster their midfield, but never quite managed to get a deal for anyone over the line.
That being said, they won’t give up just yet, as Le Foot in France explain that despite their January efforts to try and lure Ntcham away from Parkhed, they could come back for another attempt in the upcoming transfer window.
With a number of exits expected in the north of France, the need for squad depth will likely force Lille to be active, and moves for James Léa-Siliki and Ntcham, both avenues explored during the first month of the year, ‘could be relaunched’ in the near future.
At 24 years of age and a contract expiring in 2022, this could a good time for the former Manchester City youngster to return to France, having left his home country back in 2012 when he swapped Le Havre’s U19s for the Etihad side’s U18s.
