Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo has admitted he knows about the Blues’ interest in him.

That happened on Thursday evening, when Corinthians played Atlético Mineiro in the Brazilian League.

The midfielder spoke to local journalists and, quoted by Globo Esporte, talked a little about the European chase for him, giving a mention to Chelsea’s interest.

“To tell you the truth, I have very little information, my father knows a few things, he prefers not to tell me so as not to influence my head too much, to end up taking a little bit of my focus here, he says: ‘Here your focus is on Corinthians’. Let’s wait for the season to end, there are still a few games to go, and we’ll see what we can do,” said Gabriel Moscardo.

“Of course there’s interest from various clubs, I’ve also heard about it, there was strong interest from Chelsea a few months ago, but if you stop to think about where I’m going now, at this moment, it’s not good. I want to help Corinthians now to get them out of this situation.”

Moscardo speaks of Chelsea’s interest as if it were something from the summer window, but the Brazilian media has been claiming that the Blues are still in a strong chase for the player.

This week, it was said that the Stamford Bridge side made an offer for him. Corinthians’ response should still take a while, though, as they’re having presidential elections at the end of the month and it’s the new club leaders who is expected to decide whether that bid will be accepted or not.

Just yesterday, reports also claimed that Arsenal are interested in the player, so Chelsea better watch out for the competition for him. Perhaps that’s why their bid arrived so early before the January transfer window.
