Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has been linked with a move to Liverpool several times in the past, and again there is speculation in Italy the Premier League side are still interested in the playmaker.
The Italian winger is facing an uncertain future at the Serie A club, after his renewal request with a desired salary of €4m a season was rejected by Aurelio De Laurentiis. With Napoli having the player on a contract until 2019, there’s no panic.
The 25-year-old has also lost his place in the Italian national team, and things weren’t really going to well for Insigne given the publicity over his contract situation.
However, Insigne yesterday scored twice in a 2-1 win over Udinese, and Calciomercato believe Liverpool and Valencia will continue to monitor his situation.
Calciomercato believe Insigne is hoping to recover his situation at Napoli and to regain his place in the Italian national team, and also wants to sign a contract renewal. Still, there’s every chance a further disagreement about money could throw everything up in the air again.
Insigne may well be the type of player Jurgen Klopp would be keeping an eye on for Liverpool, but he’ll be aware of the pitfalls too. Many Italian players don’t travel well, as Klopp knows from Ciro Immobile at Bourussia Dortmund, so perhaps Liverpool’s name is being thrown into the mix to make the whole situation seem more dramatic than it is.
