Newcastle United are drawn into the chase for Rodrygo after reports in Spain stated the winger and Real Madrid are set to part ways in the summer.
Speaking to AS on Tuesday, journalist Pepe Brasín said the 21-year-old ‘will leave Real Madrid this summer for a Premier League team, and for more than €40m’.
Over at Sport, they explained the Brazil international would not have a place at the Bernabéu, if both Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland arrive in Madrid in the next window. For this reason, Carlo Ancelotti’s side would look to sell him to the Premier League for €40m.
It’s claimed the Tyneside club are one of the sides that ‘want to sign’ the South American. Newcastle will be in the market to bolster their attacking division, to improve their chances of climbing up the table and competing for silverware in the short term.
To achieve this, Rodrygo is a popular option for Eddie Howe’s side as they view him as an ‘investment for the short and long term’.
Rodrygo has two goals and seven assists from 36 matches in all competitions this season.
